Reverse Gilded Glass Signs

CategoryGlass Signage / Craft
TechniqueReverse Gilding on Glass
MediumGold Leaf, Glass Paint, Plate Glass

Hand-crafted reverse gilded glass signs inspired by the classic barroom and saloon signs of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The technique involves painting and gilding on the reverse side of plate glass — a process that demands working backwards, layering gold leaf and paint in reverse order so that when viewed from the front, the imagery reads correctly with a luminous, depth-filled quality no printed sign can replicate.

Current pieces include signs for Guinness, Jameson Irish Whiskey, and Bulleit Bourbon — each styled to feel at home above a proper bar. Available through Danowski Sign Co.
